A furniture showroom dedicated to the best of European design, DZINE was born as a way to express the vision of its founders Cardenio and Eve Petrucci, who share an impeccable eye for elegance informed by the art, architecture and culture of Italy. A personal and creative partnership began when the couple met in Rome and married soon thereafter in San Francisco. Taking up residence on the West Coast, Cardenio began a career in design and engineering, working with the global design firm Arup to implement design on projects such as San Francisco’s Academy of Sciences and the de Young Museum. Eve quickly captured attention as an interior designer involved in creating vibrant interiors for Pixar and other high-profile clients. Together, the couple transitioned to residential design projects in San Francisco, Miami and Washington D.C., traveling to Italy to find and import furniture products that would meet their high standards. The results captivated clients and in 2004 the Petruccis opened their first furniture showroom in San Francisco’s North Beach.
Today DZINE occupies an airy 15,000 sq. ft. showroom in the San Francisco design district. Whitewashed walls and bare concrete floors create a neutral backdrop. Simple, transparent hangings define space. The effect is minimal, yet inviting. It is a space that places emphasis on the line, proportion and detail of the furniture itself, reflecting the Petruccis’ respect for the integrity of each design and its creator.
Inspired by the great showrooms of Milan, DZINE also restricts the showroom floor to a handful of notable manufacturers of high-end contemporary furniture. The placement of furniture, accessories and art is carefully planned to create vignettes that offer more than mere display; rather, the environment presents a unified design vision – an aesthetic, an attitude, a lifestyle.
For Eve and Cardenio Petrucci, design is a passion. Every beautifully crafted item in the DZINE showroom – whether bold or understated – reflects their dedication to quality and authenticity; a belief that design is ultimately about living with greater elegance and ease.
